Nice people, but shady business
BEWARE! - Diamond Bar, CA
I decided to post this only here, and not the BBB or Yelp! as I had originally intended. I did this mainly because I feel this is a problem not just with your company, but with many plumbing companies out there. I'm sure the service portion of your company would be okay, but I do understand what it takes to do this stuff and frankly you're charging well over $500/hour for your time and this is way too much. There was a store in Simi Valley that started charging $10/battery for batteries in 1994 immediately following the Northridge earthquake - that store went out of business due to the community boycotting because they were caught taking advantage of the community at a time of need. Unfortunately, the community is hit with this same type of thing daily by businesses like Ace Pelizon and is unaware because most consumers do not understand what it takes to do the job and they are in dire need to correct the problem at hand, but cannot do so on their own and have no where else to turn. Frankly, I am a business person, but have some experience doing larger projects on my house. If I didn't have the honest plumber that I have (unfortunately, he was unavailable for 2 weeks) I would have gotten this quote and maybe another from another plumber and still would have said no and done it myself - because I know how to and know that it may take me longer than a pro, but could still finish this with less than $200 out of pocket for expenses and loss of about 8 hours of my time. I can accept $1500 for that convenience, but not $3000+ I was very disappointed in my experience with Ace Pelizon Plumbing. Especially, since they were recommended by a friend and I didn't expect them to be this type of company. Ace Pelizon knows that they have you at an awkward moment, when you need help, and they take advantage of you for all they can! Businesses like this should be shut down or regulated so they cannot take outrageous advantage of their customers. They know that when you call a plumber, it's urgent in your mind and you’re likely to ignore pricing and not understand the services being offered. Here is my experience and perspective: The tech, showed up and I showed him where the water sounds were; having been through this a few times before, it was obvious to me where the leak was. The tech pushed performing a leak detection, even though I pointed out where the leak was - you could hear it when no water was on at a location where water should not be running - I don't need a stethoscope for this. I hesitated at first and asked will they find any additional leak if there were more than the one I pointed out? Yes, was the answer. Then I asked, will they map ALL the pipes in my house? Again, yes was the answer. So, I accepted. The rate quoted was $375 for the leak detection (which I was expecting to be around $100 - $200 since I had seen those prices advertised by other plumbers). I should have taken notice at that point. Additionally, I wasn’t told that the tech would be there during the leak detection and could cost an additional $89 – bringing the actual cost to $464! The more I think about this specific item, the more I feel like I was a fool and allowed you to take advantage of me! When the guy came to do the leak detection, he ran his meter the 25 feet or so between the water main and the actual leak – that I pointed out, and said “yep, there’s a leak there” – surprise, surprise, surprise. He marked where the leak was with blue tape, then ran a second instrument for, literally, less than 5 minutes I guess to “map” the line. He put no tape down and did not mark where the line was on the floor, maybe there is an electronic map that he has, but I certainly didn’t see anything. He then packed his stuff up, and I asked what about if there are other leaks, and the pipes for the rest of the house. I was told, “we can’t do that until that leak is fixed” and that it would be another leak detection charge! So I was lied to about my two explicit questions which cost me $464 that I would not have spent had I been told the truth. Then we came to the estimate for fixing the leak. I was told, if we break open the slab and repair the copper in place it would be $1695. Okay, I’ve done this exact repair job in the same area before myself (in this house) and this took my about 3 hours and less than $5 in parts – so that’s about $550/hour for a layman to do it. I assume they could do this in half the time which is about $1100/hour! And my cabinet bottom would be ripped out, probably tiles broken and a hole in the cement left behind for me to take care of myself. That's cabinet work, concrete work, and tile work - I would have to do this all myself. So, the next quote was re-routing on the outside of the house at $2250. Straight shot from water main at house for about 30 feet, then one 90 degrees turn, straight for 10 feet, then into the house and connect. So, if they do this with copper the parts would be: 1) 100’ x ¾ in copper tubing = $150 + 2) $50 in miscellaneous brackets and fittings = $200 in parts. I’ll be generous with 4 hours of labor time – which could probably really be done in less than 3 hours. So, $2250 - $200 = $2050 divided by 4 hours = $512/hour ($683/hour if done in 3 hours). I expect to pay a premium for a plumber, but this is double what attorneys charge! These are outrageous rates. Additionally, I would be left with some drywall work, which I can contract out for cheep, so that doesn't bother me as much. The final quote was re-routing through the attic using Pex for $2750. Straight shot in open attic for about 20 feet, drop down 7 feet into cabinet, run through back of cabinets for 15 more feet and connect. I had a similar job done by a different plumber earlier this year for $1200. To the same area, but was hot water from about the same distance, but from a different room. Cost break down: 1) Parts: Pex Blue 100’ ¾ in = $115 + 2) $50 in brackets and fitting + 3) 4 hours labor which is about what the other plumber took, but his job was actually more difficult due to the walls – so I’ll use 4 hours. $2750 - $165 = $2585 divided by 4 hours = $646/hour! Again, outrageous! Again, drywall work only left behind. Ultimately, I turned my water off, and decided to wait for my normal plumber that I feel does not take advantage of me! At the end of the day, my plumber will do this job for around $1500 (using the Pex method), but cannot help for a couple of weeks (it's still about $350 hour, but less than half of what you will cost me!). I was bummed when my plumber didn't have time, and put me into the mode of needing to get this done and in to the group that other, less fortunate consumers, are in when they call a plumber - now I have a new respect for the plumber I have, even when he is too busy to help out quickly. Ultimately, $464 + $2750 = $3214.00 for the exact same service that I will get from him for less than half of that! Yes, I count the leak detection because that was totally unnecessary and would not have been done by my guy! As a note, a much fairer practice would be to charge parts + labor for this type of thing, then give an estimate of how much labor, track it and charge based on actual labor. Even if the labor charge is $350/hour this would be acceptable at least the consumer knows what they're in for and knows that you won't overcharge; or, properly estimate hours multiply by a rate of $350 and charge that. Companies like this say that "we have trucks, and an office, and a secretary, etc." and we have to cover our expenses) that's bullcrap. You have multiple techs working multiple projects simultaneously and I'm sure they are not even seeing $100/hour for their time. That extra $400+/hour is going straight to the company which is way more than your operational expenses! You charge the way because the consumer is unaware and doesn’t know any better and they are seriously taking advantage of at a time when they are in need - just like the earthquake scenario I stated above! I will say this though: All the people that I interacted with on this were friendly, courteous and professional. With the exception of the lies on the leak detection, I really like Joe. You are lucky to have the staff you do and if you're going to go out and take this kind of advantage of the consumer you should cut them in on it, 'cause I know I would be really mad if I realized my boss was making probably 10x my pay on my work and would be looking to move on ASAP!

Kevin was great! He explained everything very thoroughly and gave me a couple choices of services that are being offered with his company. He was very courteous, helpful and very personable! The only downside to the service I got was how much I have to spend to fix the leaky problem I have (which of course, is not Kevin's fault!)

Our leak was in a very odd to get to place and Gary gave us his thoughts on all the variables that may occur before we went with his repair. The job actually took less time than was estimated and the cost was reasonable especially on a Saturday. We appreciated having him there.
VERY GOOD SERVIVE
Parker - Diamond Bar, CA
Gary came out to my house because of a very high water bill approx $150/month. a few months ago it was $50/60 per month. He and his ELECTRONIC DETECTION Sidekick located a major leak in the cement slab under the carpet. They Jackhammered until they found the location of the leak in the copper pipe. Gary they added a new section of copper pipe and he filled in the hole with new cement .patch. After the cement dried out I put the carpet down in 36 hours. However I found very low water output at the kitchen faucet. Gary returned and found that the faucet screen was blocked up perhaps by welding flux. All in all the service was very good with a few glitches.
Excellent service, Average price

Service with better than expected results

Kevin, an ACE Pelizon plumber, quickly responded to a call and assessed the leak situation. After digging 3' down, he advised the leak was coming from under the pool deck. He came back the very next morning, dug some more and managed to fix the main line pipe under the cement pool deck without cutting the pool deck, thus saving the Association money and an ugly "patch scar" on the pool deck.

Referred by a friend, made the call regarding a significant leak from a 2nd floor bathroom. Appt. was set for within 2 hours. Notified us 20 minutes b4 arrivial. Trouble-shot, and diagnosed a significant leak. Advised, repaired in a precarious location and an hour later, repair was completed without damage to any other area. Honestly, we could not be more pleased. Asked for additional cards and, with a neighbor visiting, recommended Gary to him. We will pass the word on to others.
Excellent service, within the scheduled time, but a bit pricey

Am impressed with the professional and very customer friendly service given by Gary Preston. I appreciate that if possible he tries to keep the cost down for the customer by repairing the item rather than replacing it. Very nice that he covered his shoes before entering the house keeping the outside dirt out.
Courteous and fast service
